Rule 6 – Your Family
2009.10.16 CE

Rule 6 – Honor, without bowing to, your family. They will be the ones weeping at your funeral.

Honoring your family does not mean blind obedience to anyone. But it does mean blind acceptance of them and their actions, even the wrong actions.

You’re family, being your children and spouse, loves you and probably always will. They will make mistakes in life, and you should accept those mistakes just as they should accept yours. You don’t have to like the mistakes, and you can certainly speak your mind about them. But in the end you should be able to accept them as they are.

Let me say though that speaking your mind should not include ‘brutal honesty’. Brutal honesty is harsh, cruel, demeaning, and solves nothing. Avoid it like the plague.
