Hypatian Society

To Be A Hypatian Member
Being a member of the group known by its namesake, Hypatia, is as uncomplicated as its rules:

  1. You believe in the 21 rules.
(Believing in a concept of a god [agnostic, deist, spiritualist, Shinto, or such] qualifies and is acceptable as long as the entity/force/spirit is not an already known ultimate leader (god) figure.)
That’s all you have to do.

But other things to consider are:
  1. You can promote the ideals in the 21 rules either personally or publicly or both.

  2. Some of the advantages to the Hypatian society include:
    1. having get-togethers with other Hypatian’s
    2. using the 21 rules to emphasize your “deeply held religious beliefs” in support or opposition to legal, legislative, or political actions.
    3. using the 21 rules as a method to convince others, such as family, that you are not “lost in a no morals underworld”
    4. using the 21 rules to show your children why they cannot do bad things without sifting through hundreds of pages of stories or philosophy that a child will not understand anyway
    5. using the 21 rules as a personal guide if you have your own questions about life without having to wade through thousands of pages of stories, parables, and/or philosophical arguments.
    6. using the 21 rules to more equally judge people. Such as Rule 1 genetics to show that both those who believe in an ultimate ruler (theists) are as valid as those that that do not believe in an ultimate ruler (atheists) as well as those on the bell curve that are unsure (agnostics). But then Rule 9 allows you to express your views on the Religion a theist has chosen tempered with Rule 5’s respect requirement.

  3. You owe nothing of value to anyone except those you want to support.

  4. Present Service Service Marks for your use are:

    1.          ®
    2.   I must Challenge What I know SM
    3.          ®

  5. You can MAKE and use those made items with our Trademark(s) or Service Mark(s) for your own use with no limitations and no fees but:
    1. It must hold the Hypatian Society in a good light and, obviously, do not knowingly violate any of the 21 rules.
    2. Not be used on for profit merchandise sales (For profit merchandise is how we make money to run the Hypatian Society)
    3. It can be used on items not generally considered as “merchandise”, such as trophies/plaques for accomplishments or recognition of some effort, schedules for events, promotional or informative pamphlets, advertising, displays, signs, prizes in drawings promoted by the Hypatian or Hypatian Office and the like are not merchandise.
    4. It can be sold to attendees of events at cost or if at a profit and all the profit goes to that events direct costs (we consider it advertising)
    5. If you buy merchandise to personally sell at an event and sell it for a profit to you then that is ok as we will have recieved money when the seller sold to you. In other words we do not double dip on the money we get per piece of merchandise.

  6. If you want you can start your own office that performs the functions IAW the laws of your state for a religious corporation (colloquially called churches).
